Draft for legal review

Terms of service

Granary isn't open yet. Today this site describes the product and takes requests for an invite. Requesting an invite doesn't create an account and doesn't commit you to pay for anything.

Who these terms are with

Granary will be run by Granary LLC, which hasn't been formed yet. These terms will name it once it is.

Who can use Granary

Granary is by invitation. There's no public sign-up: we set up each customer's company, and its owner invites the rest of their team.

What Granary does, and what you decide

  • Granary will answer questions about your company's money and taxes from your own records. The figures in its answers are worked out by code, and the law it cites is checked against the law's text for your tax year before you see it.
  • A tax rule in Granary is a draft until a CPA has reviewed it. An answer that rests on a draft rule will never be shown as a finished one.
  • You'll confirm how your company's money is classified and the facts about your company. Granary will record who confirmed each one and when.
  • Granary won't sign anything for you. Bringing in a CPA is optional.

Not a CPA firm

Granary is not a CPA firm. Joseph's answers are not advice from a licensed tax professional; bring in a CPA for decisions you're unsure about.

Filing

Granary doesn't file returns today. It will prepare a package for your CPA, who files. Granary will file returns itself only after it's approved as an IRS e-file provider, and only after you've reviewed the exact return and signed the e-file authorization.

Prices

Plans and prices aren't set yet. We'll publish them before we open. Billing will run through Stripe. If your credits run out, filing work and deadline reminders won't stop.

Still to come

These terms are a draft. The sections a final version needs, such as liability, ending an account, disputes and which law applies, will be written with a lawyer.
